Function of Fuel Filters
Fuel filter is an important component that is fitted in a fuel system to pull out contamination from the fuel. The fuel filter removes moisture and dust, which are present in the fuel, to protect the engine’s components like the injection pump and nozzle from clogging and wear.
Diesel Fuel Filter
In diesel engines, cartridge type filters are used generally. The main material include cotton yarn, low twisted cotton yarn, accordion shape pleated paper, cellulose disks, bags woven with wool yarn and dense knit filter bags are used. In order to clean the diesel fuel, a very good filter is placed to the inlet of the high pressure pump, first. Also it might be necessary to place filters between the tank and the machine or between the transmission pump and high pressure pump or in both positions.
